Excursion to Artarmon Reserve & Community Garden

The children participated in our excursion to Artarmon Reserve and the Community Garden. They enjoyed the scenery of the walk down to the Reserve, going under Willoughby Road, and then looking for gumnuts after examining the gumnut sculptures. Each child drew sketches of a tree following our engagement in National Tree Week.

As the children refreshed with water they listened to a story and the sounds of the birds in the bush. We noticed dead trees with no leaves and discussed what might have happened to them. We also saw how shady and cool it was under the canopy of the tall trees.

When the picnic lunch sandwiches were eaten, we walked up to the Artarmon Community Garden looking at their mulberry trees, citrus flowers, pollinators and how they use recycled material to protect the strawberries for the birds.
